On Thursday 30th April 2026, Softworks Head of Business Development, Robert Doherty-Bigara, spoke at HR Tech in ExCel London, delivering an insightful session titled “How To Fall In Love With Your Job Again.”
Opening with a simple audience question about job satisfaction, the talk highlighted a wider workplace trend. While many assume pay is the main driver of dissatisfaction, research shows that culture, leadership, and flexibility play a far greater role in employee engagement and retention.
The session explored how organisations are responding by offering more flexible working and personalised employee experiences. However, this shift is creating increased pressure on HR teams, who are now managing greater complexity, expectations, and data than ever before.
The key message was clear: the solution is not to lower expectations, but to better support the people delivering them.
A core theme of the talk focused on how technology can help organisations listen and adapt to employee needs, while also enabling teams to automate processes, track engagement, and predict and prepare for challenges before they arise.
By using workforce management technology in this way, organisations can reduce the strain on HR while creating more supportive, responsive workplaces. When used effectively, technology enables HR teams to focus less on administration and more on people. And ultimately, that is what helps employees reconnect with their work.
Robert will be expanding on these ideas in an upcoming blog, exploring how organisations can better support HR teams while improving the employee experience.
