We are excited to announce an opening for a Test Engineer within our dynamic technology team! This is a crucial role in ensuring seamless operations within Softworks.
This individual must be highly motivated and detail-oriented, as the successful candidate will be responsible for managing test scripts within the Softworks product, providing guidance on all aspects of quality, and quality engineering within a cross-functional team, thus ensuring customer satisfaction and reduction of scrap. The successful candidate will also control stress-testing for our core and custom releases using the WAPT application.

Role Responsibilities:
Test Planning & Test Script Management:
- Develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive test scripts within the Softworks product environment.
- Design, review, and execute manual and/or automated test cases to ensure full functional and regression coverage.
- Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and reported defects.
- Maintain version control and documentation of all test cases.
Quality Assurance & Quality Engineering:
- Provide guidance and subject matter expertise on quality standards, best practices, and quality engineering principles across the cross-functional team.
- Promote a quality-first mindset throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Identify root causes of issues and recommend preventative measures to reduce recurring defects and production scrap.
- Ensure product releases meet defined acceptance criteria and quality benchmarks.
Debugging & Defect Management:
- Apply strong debugging skills to identify, isolate, and document software defects.
- Perform detailed root cause analysis in collaboration with the Development team.
- Track, manage, and verify resolution of defects through to closure.
- Provide clear, concise, and reproducible defect reports to support rapid resolution.
Stress & Performance Testing:
- Plan, co-ordinate, and control stress testing activities for core and custom software releases.
- Execute performance and load testing using the WAPT application.
- Analyse stress test results and provide actionable performance improvement recommendations.
- Ensure system stability, scalability, and reliability under peak load conditions.
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration:
- Collaborate with relevant teams to understand requirements and deliver business value.
- Support team members in problem-solving and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.
- Provide clear communication on testing progress, risks, and release readiness.
Continuous Improvement:
- Foster collaboration within the Softworks Group and liaise effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance with international data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR) and guidelines.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices, particularly AI innovations relevant to global markets.
- Identify opportunities to reduce defects, improve efficiency, and minimise rework.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects and research as required.
Requirements:
Professional Skills:
- Initiative and ability to complete assigned tasks
- Experience in hands-on technical role
- Willingness and capability to learn in live project environments
- Product testing and minor computer development experience is a distinct advantage
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and proficient at a variety of levels

Location:
The role will be based in Softworks HQ in Bray, Co. Wicklow. We currently have hybrid working in place, combining office-based working with working from home.

Salary Details:
€30,000 – €38,000 DOE
